ZEPHONIE
played by Nemi
NICKNAMES
Zeph, Zeppy
BRIEF HISTORY
Her History is something that Zephonie prefers not to think about,
but always seems to be haunted by. She has very few memories of
her first few years, in which she lived at the Warehouse with her
mother Demeter and, regrettably, her father Macavity. The
memories she does have consist of unpleasant and frightening
feelings toward her father and the other cats within the warehouse.
When she was very young, her mother ran away with Bombalurina
to the Junkyard, where she grew up. Though the adults always
seemed pleasant to her, it was no secret who her father was, and
thus kittens were warned to be cautious around the poor kitten.
Zephonie became very independent quickly, out of necessity, and
has always spent more time with her 'mothers' than with cats her
own age. As they've all grown, and the other kittens have gotten
their own opinions, several are quite accepting of her, while others
remain cautious.
PERSONALITY
Because of her History (see below), Zephonie, or Zeppy as the few
she's close to call her, is quite nervous around other cats, and is
always very concerned about their opinions of her. Overall the
queen is timid and keeps to herself, but is always pleased when
someone is willing to be kind or pay attention to her. She is
constantly in fear of having dark thoughts, which oftentimes only
enter he head in dreams, because of who she knows her father to
be. Though she wishes to have a normal life with kittens and mates,
she fears what lies within her too much to let herself get too close
to anyone in particular, apart from her "mothers". When one gets to
know Zephonie, they learn that she's very accepting (since that's
all she wishes to be), and is very tolerant of the Personality quirks
of other cats. Even those many find to be annoying are easily
tolerable to Zeppy. Due to her desire to feel accepted she's very
easily taken advantage of, and tends to be pretty gullible.
FAMILY
MOTHER
DEMETER
Zephonie loves her mother, even though she fancies herself a huge
burden on Demeter. As she's grown up, Zeph has learned more
about how she came to be and feels a great deal of guilt that her
mother is faced with her past on a daily basis just with her being
around. Regardless, Zeppy works very hard to please her mother
and make her proud, though she doesn't always know exactly how
to do it. She thrives off the encouragement and acknowledgment
she receives for things she does right.
FATHER
MACAVITY
Though she's never met him, Zephonie hates her father, if only for
the pain he's caused her mothers. She assumes the deep, scary
voice that haunts her dreams belongs to him, and she's both
perpetually scared and intreagued by the concept of him. She
knows she doesn't want to be like him, and definitely doesn't want
to be like him, but the sheer mystery of him and how much of him is
really inside her makes her curious and terrified.
"OTHER" MOTHER
BOMBALURINA
Zephonie has been calling Bombalurina her mother since she was
very young, and it took her until she learned about her father before
she realized that Bomba was really her aunt. As she grew older, it
was Bombalurina that Zephonie began asking questions about her
past to (as to not upset Demeter), and it's Bombalurina who eventually
gave her most of the history that was a mystery to Zeppy. Zeppy wishes
that some day she could have the confidence that her 'mother' Bomba
has, and she strives to make her proud every day.
SIBLINGS
MOTHER'S SIDE: ASTRELLA, ENDRIT, AVISAE
BOMBA'S SIDE: DORNAA, VELARCISSA, CALLISTA, HALLANDOR
FATHER'S SIDE: ATALO, SYRAVASH, LYSANDRA
AVISAE made Zephonie very nervous as a kitten. She could tell that
her sister didn't much care for her, and so Zephonie became very
reserved around her. As they've grown older, though, Zeph was
relieved that Avisae relinquished her old jealousies, but
is still very worried about keeping on her good side. She truely
does look up to her younger sister.
ENDRIT is actually very close to Zephonie, and she's very, very
thankful for it. She loves her little brother and is glad that he's
always there for her. She'd likely do anything for him, were he
in trouble, upset, or in danger.
ASTRELLA here.
Though she has no blood relation with Bombalurina's kittens,
she considers them her siblings, since their mothers are soul mates.
Zephonie has never met any of her father's children, so she doesn't
have any known relationship with any of them.
MATES
NONE YET.
But if she had any, ships would be here. She has a hard time really
connecting with other Jellicles, so even though she's the oldest of
her generation, she doesn't have anyone in line that she's courting
or being courted by.
OTHERS
CADE and Zephonie aren't close by any means, but she empathizes
deeply with his feeling as a misunderstood outcast of the tribe.
ELODIE (VERITY) has always been very sweet to Zephonie, and
she's fond of her. The two are consistently getting closer. With
Elodie being an outsider, Zephonie doesn't feel any prejudice from
her, which is comforting.
ADRIEL and Zephonie aren't close, but he's nice to her, so she
doesn't worry about any conversations they have.
VELARCISSA and Zeppy, though not really sister, get along all right
for all intents and purposes. Zeph is very intimidated by Cissa
sometimes, so she goes out her way to stay very quiet around her,
which likely just estranges their relationship
ILLUMINA is Zephonie's best friend, and she loves her exponentially.
Currently, Zephonie knows there's something deeper that she can't
quite put her paw on.
XOCHIPILLI doesn't really have a friendship with Zephonie, but they
aren't enemies by any means. They simply hang around with
different crowds and don't do too much overlapping.
TEODORS is everyone's friend, and thus he's friends with Zephonie,
Not close, but definintely friendly. She thinks he's great for a good
laugh, but sometimes thinks he avoids her for unknown reasons,
which confuses her. (It's just that he worries she'll be
uncomfortable with his awesome hyperness.)
JEMIMA has always been extremely sweet to Zephonie, and always
stood up for her when she was a kitten and others were teasing
her. They never grew close, however, as Jemima had a lot on her
proverbial plate. Still, Zephonie is fond of Jemima, and wishes she
could be as social and loving as she is.
CHARLOTTE and Zephonie aren't complicated, per se, but she doesn't know how to take her. In some ways, the two get along. After all, Charlotte is mate to favorite brother, and Charlotte's always seemed nice to her. Still, Zephonie has so many insecurities that she's often skewed to think that Charlotte doesn't really like her.
ADRAEL has never really said much to Zephonie. She thinks it must take a lot of responsibility to be the railway cat, so she respects and admires him.
TANTOMILE's extrasensory abilities at least give Zephonie some comfort that she's not like her father-- after all, wouldn't Tantomile sound the alarm if she sensed something dark? Still, Zeph prefers to keep away from the twins, simply because she's afraid they WILL see something.
